FAMILY LIFE MINISTRY
The
Messiah Easter Egg Scramble was a great new event this year for our
neighborhood. There was
a great turnout even though the weather was a little cold and windy.
I want to thank everyone who donated plastic eggs, candy,
prizes and money to help fill 100 dozen eggs.
Big thanks to the youth who helped fill the eggs on Thursday,
and all the adults who pitched in on Saturday to scatter the eggs
and hand-out the prizes.
It was great to see many familiar faces, but it was also great to
see so many new faces!
Watch for pictures in the May Message.
Blessings!
Beth

can choose from and on the tags are items that would be useful to a
new first-time home owner.
Just choose a tag, purchase the item and bring it to Messiah
by June 1st. Becky and Tessa’s home will be built in a one-week
building blitz the first week of June
125th Anniversary Cookbooks
The new Messiah cookbook is now available for purchase.
The book has a
3-ring hard cover featuring a beautiful picture of the church.
There is a brief
history of Messiah in the front of the book and hundreds of great
recipes. They make great
gifts! The books are $10
and can be purchased during
coffee fellowship on Sundays or from the office.
Vacation Bible School

the kids will be enjoying a “Rainforest Adventure” right here at
Messiah! Anyone
interested in volunteering to teach, lead games or crafts, serve
snacks or help decorate the rainforest please call Beth at 390-8611.
HEALTH MINISTRY NEWS
I hope that post Easter weather is warmer….lots of folks are weary
of the wind and are ready to be over their cabin fever!
One of the better websites that I recommend for getting very good
health information is
www.NIHseniorhealth.gov
Although it is aimed at the senior population, it has overall good
and accurate health information and is an easy website to navigate.
Sonja will meet again with parents of tweens and teens at 5 p.m. on
April 13. We will
continue our discussion about how parents talk with their kids about
sex and relationships.
There is an ELCA approved course which could be an option to carry
out at Messiah.
Come join the joy and fun and fellowship at the Saturday morning
exercise class. We
stretch and tone and breathe and relax.
Come at 9:45 and stay for coffee and fellowship after.
There will be no class on April 26.
Blood pressures will be taken between services on April 13.
This is a great opportunity to get a check on the “pulse of
your health” and to ask Sonja any health related questions.
It is a joy to serve the folks of Messiah!

Comfort Crosses
The Messiah Arts Club
have been making comfort crosses this past year for Messiah members
who are hospitalized, in nursing homes or home-bound.
They crosses are carved to fit perfectly in the hand and be a
constant reminder of Christ’s presence in our life and the peace and
comfort that brings.
M.A.C. are now offering them for purchase.
The crosses will sell for $15 and the money raised will be
used to purchase wood and supplies to continue this important
ministry.
If you are interested in purchasing a cross please contact
Norm Elstermeier, Bob Lenners, or any of the carvers.
Recycling at Messiah
Messiah has received a paper recycling
bin from Omaha Paper Company.
Everyone is encouraged to bring their newspapers, magazines,
catalogs, cardboard and office paper to the north parking lot to be
recycled. There is no
cost to Messiah for having or emptying the bin and Omaha Paper will
pay the church $10 for each ton of paper we collect.
The youth also receive funds for recycling empty inkjet and
laser cartridges and cell phones in the box under the mailboxes in
the library. Deposit
your aluminum cans in the containers around the building and the
money raised benefits Habitat for Humanity.
Please invite your friends, family members and neighbors to
bring their paper, ink cartridges, old cell phones and aluminum cans
to Messiah to be recycled.
