The mission of Messiah – ‘to touch others with God’s love’ – is drawn from the teaching and example and call of Jesus.
It is also summarized by the Old Testament prophet, Micah (6:8), whom Jesus quotes: ‘What does God require of you but to do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with our God.’
Below are some of our outreach ministries that always welcome additional volunteers:
QUILTING MINISTRY: Nearly 200 quilts are sewn by volunteers annually at Messiah. They find use as close as Grand Island and as far away as Africa.
SATURDAY SUPPERS: Every Saturday evening 65 – 100 guests are given a free hot meal through this ministry at Messiah. St. Francis Hospital began providing food for this meal program a year after we started. Other churches, civic organizations and individuals are volunteering. It affords a great mini ‘mission project’ for adult, youth and confirmation groups.
MISSION TRIP: Volunteers spend a week away – working, serving, sharing from their love of Christ.
HOWARD SCHOOL TUTORING: About 20 folks volunteer to work with grade school students at our neighborhood school. What a great one-on-one experience!
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY: Messiah donated over $52,000 to pay for a Habitat House. We remain committed to this great program through our time and energy.
